Mangalore, Dec 28, 2012: In yet another shocking incident, a young girl was brutally gang-raped twice in a moving Maruthi Omni and at an isolated area near Kumble town in Kasargod district.
The victim is an 18-year-old girl from Kanyana in Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada district. Though the incident took place last Monday, it came to light much later.
The victim, who is a maid at an apartment in Mangalore, had been to Uppala on Monday afternoon to meet her boyfriend identified as Asgar.
According to sources, Asgar and three of his friends took her in an Omni on the pretext of going to a park. However, she was allegedly raped by the four men and later dumped near Kumble Railway Station.
An auto-rickshaw driver identified as Ganesh (24), who noticed the helpless girl on the street took her home at around 7:30 p.m. on the pretext of helping her. However, he took her to an isolated area and raped her again. It is learnt that two of the friends of Ganesh also raped her. Later she was dumped near Kumbla bus stand.
Local people who noticed the girl in the mid-night informed the jurisdictional police. Later, she was admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
In her statement, the victim has said that she was raped by seven people including her boyfriend Asgar and atuo-driver Ganesh.
Ganesh was later arrested by Kumbla police.
